First impressions from the TMD Cloud Platform

As we have notified you previously, we have started migrating our existing OpenVZ virtual and cloud instances towards the fully fledged, highly available and all-SSD cloud platform we have built. So far we have moved over 150 VMs and the feedback we have gotten from their owners is, well.. stunning.

We knew it was going to be fast, we built architecture for it to be blazing fast and yes – we always secretly dreamed it turns out that fast. Well.. ladies and gentleman, readers of the TMDHosting blog – today we are proud to announce that we have went above and beyond with our efforts to bring blazing fast speed on stage for our VPS and Cloud customers. Here is just a small portion of the feedback we have got until now:

“As for load and response speeds, I am quite impressed. The SE sites always took a bit to load, now substantially faster. WordPress sites were usually quite fast but now load up in an instant. It is all quite impressive! Thanks for your help (and the rest of the team).”
“As promised, the performance we get with our SSD Cloud is times and times better than OpenVZ — we’ve already noticed that – our website is really, really fast now.”
“All I can say is WOW! If my site can run this fast all the time I will be amazed. It is blazing fast. I tried every page and it seems to be normal. I am ready to go live.”
And since a before and after Pingdom page speed tests say more than hundred words, we move directly onto the raw stats. To illustrate the page speed we have brought, the first TMDHosting.com, OpenVZ based resource we have offloaded to our cloud service is our blog. You might have noticed that it clogs from time to time recently, ultimately caused by the vast amount of readers we have gained in the past couple of months [thank you all!]. This will no longer be a problem, though, because.. well.. we’ve made it really, really fast.

      Enter page speed tests.

We are comparing our blog.tmdhosting.com resource in two conditions — BEFORE (OpenVZ VM with 4Gb RAM and 4 CPU cores) and AFTER (KVM VM with 4GB RAM and 4CPU cores). Both tests conducted at Pingdom. Tests performed hours within one another, because of the DNS propagation.

AFTER MOVING TO THE TMD CLOUD:

Statistically speaking – here you observe between 250 and 300% boost in the page load time and this is really huge.

If you are wondering how we made it, we have a very detailed explanation in one of our previous posts, where we cover the main reasons for us retiring OpenVZ. Not sure if you are convinced that cloud is the ultimate future after this post and head to head comparison, but we certainly have our souls sold to OpenStack and the new TMD Cloud platform, that our ingenious engineers built in the past couple of months.

Follow closely our blog for more details about the cloud products we are launching. It is an exciting start of 2016 for us and it is just the beginning. Stay tuned!
